The Lara Museum is devoted to arts and antiquities and has recently been opened thanks to the initiative of one private individual promoter, Mr. Juan A. Lara Jurado. He has managed to restore the palatial house of the Counts of the Conquista de las Islas Batanes, where several members of the Spanish royal family have stayed at different times, to its original splendour.

It is located in Calle Armiñán, right at the heart of the ancient quarter of the town, next to the Tajo of Ronda and it is only part of the tremendously important palatial heritage that exists in the town. With its more than 2.000 works of art and antiquities, which are divided up into seven different collections, this museum is the most important private museum in the whole Andalusian region. It brings together Communication, Art, Archeology, Science and Popular crafts and invites that visitor to take a close look into the past. There are different exhibition rooms for: clocks, weapons, scientific advances, romantism, local craftwork, archeology, a collection of knives, elelments from the bullfighting world, and musical instruments.
