The Sculpture "Points of View"
The sculpture "Points of View" by the British artist Tony Cragg has been on show in the city of Malaga, on the corner of calle Larios with calle Strachan, since 2nd August 2005.
This bronze is the first work of the artist to be exhibited permanently in a public space in Spain. The placement this statue was carried out under the municipal sculpture programme, Malaga, a Museum City, which was initiated in 2002 with a number of works being installed, these specifically designed for the project by artists such as Miquel Navarro, Chema Alvargonzález and Jaume Plensa.
In 2003, the Contemporary Art Centre showed works by Tony Cragg under the title Signs of Life. Furthermore, in a selection of its permanent collection, called Human Landscape, the Centre included a piece by this artist, Untitled (Messengers in wood, 2003).
The main characteristics of Tony Cragg's works are their aerodynamic forms and silhouettes full of vitality. Most of them are large in size and reflect the combination of the artist's skill as a sculptor with his scientific knowledge as a laboratory technician. He uses a variety of materials from different origins, from things found on the beaches or in the cities, to pieces of objects made of plastic.
