Moorish Queen’s House

The Casa de la Reina Mora, with its two Roman arches and whitewashed brick kiln is also known as the Torre Mudêjar or the Casa del Diezmo. It is an example of the Mudêjar architecture that dominates this part of the Axarquîa region. The building, which still retains a tower with twin blind arches built in this same style, served as the base from which the area’s production and sale of mulberry leaves and silk worms was administered.
