Fahala’s Fortress
This ancient fortress, known as Fahala, is of Arabic origin and its rest have been found in the outskirts of town in the place known as Torres of Fahalas, specifically southeast of town, between the river and the creek Sanguino. Situated on a hill of 230 meters with an area of nearly 20,000 square meters, can still be seen the remains of walls, ceramic tiles and bricks on the site it occupied. The height and thickness of the wall paintings of the few preserved (up to 5 meters wide by 2) indicate that this site should be very important. Its external circuit skirted the small plateau on which it is located, being marked by some towers. Regarding the walls can now be seen, differences in their manufacture. The latest were built in masonry, stone cut from the outer side, keeled and joined by mortar.
