Joaquin Peinado Museum

The Museo Peinado belongs to the Unicaja Foundation and is situated inside the Palacio de los Marqueses de Moctezuma in the Plaza del Gigante, right at the heart of the historic quarter of the city.

Joaquîn Peinado, born in Ronda in 1898, was the succesor of Cézanne and the disciple of Picasso, and is considered as one of the most elegant painters who made up the "escuela española" of Paris. He died there in 1975. The different creative stages in the painters life, that went from 1923 when he left Spain for Paris, to 1974 a few months before his death, can be appreciated by taking a stoll through the different halls of this museum which is home to more than 190 of his works. Amongt the works in the exhiition are some drawings that have never been exhibited before and which are part of some of the painter’s private collection. There are also oil paintings, water paintings, and some sketches.

Works like Bodegón con Peras, Figura con Paloma, El Frutero and Desnudo femenino, are central pieces of the exhibition along with the sea scenery paintings
