Tradition ditches from the 19th century, eight of which are left, are irrigation channels that like aqueducts took water from the Guadalhorce River to different oil of flour mills in the village. Today, we conserve the ruins of ditches on the ranches of Prevenio, Maletas, El Huerto del Viejo, La Fábrica (Factiry) or el Molinillo (Small Mill).

On the farm called San Antonio Jabonero, an irrigation channel can be seen. Water used to go down it from the highest point of Guadalhorce to a structure made of stone, and then to a hole. There, a strong water spurt that could move the stones of the mills was created. Then, water flew along this artificial irrigation channel formed in the ground, changing the Guadalhorce’s course so to make an elevation down which water would slide powerfully to the mills. The water from the canal would go to the stone structure which was 40 metres long and 4 high.

At the main square, there is a monument dedicated to the canals. Stone and bricks are used in their building as decoration, and there is a semi-circular arch in the middle of it. The monument can be accessed through a small park and a path.
