Cuevas de San Marcos is locates on a small hill that descends to the valley of the Genil river, border of the provinces of Málaga and Córdoba. The olive trees cover the valley until they meet, while ascending, with the low forest and the rocky outcroppings of the mountains.

In the Sierra del Camorro one can find the most appealing locations of the municipality. Among them, one should highlight a fault which has been declared Natural Monument of Andalusia for its geological value and the Reservoir of Iznájar, beautiful sheet of water surrounded by holm oaks, olives and almonds. In order to observe it properly, we will need to get to our destination: the Overlook of the Reservoir. A small trail through the region of the Sierrezuela will take us there.
