Los Riscos - Path of las Eras
Los Riscos is a great torcal, of sedimentary origin, composed of limestone (limestone rock composed primarily of calcium carbonate) that look ruiniform due to erosion that produce the weather. Due to the ruiniform appearance, rocks with many shapes created naturally can be found.
Los Riscos are located within the Sierra del Oreganal in the region of the Serrania de Ronda, about 1,400 metres above sea level in the western territory of the province of Malaga. In the geographical area, delimited to the north by the Plateau de Ronda, on the east by the Sierra de las Nieves, Sierra Bermeja on the south and west by the Guadiaro Valley.
To give value to this natural wonder, the Development Plan for Tourism in the Serranía de Ronda (PDSR) has funded a 3 miles path (of mid-level that can be done in about 2 hours) in the surroundings of Los Riscos, a torcal of imposing dimensions, as a result of erosion, is presented as the epitome of karst molding of the Serrania de Ronda.
This is a spectacular route to tour and interpretate, with a similar landscapes to the existing in the Torcal of Antequera.
In order to create this path it has been necessary to coordinate the City of Júzcar, the Ministry of Environment of the Andalusían Gouvernment and some private owner.
The actions have materialized in: lane arrangement (about 200 meters), the creation of a parking area on land purchased by the City Hall of Júzcar to this end, the creation of access path and the circular path (about two miles); the placement various interpretive panels, and the enhancement of several threshing floors ("eras").
