Playa el Cañuelo, a beach at Nerja, is the last beach of the Malaga municipality, on the border of the province between Granada and Malaga. It is located in the natural landscape of the Acantilados de Maro-Cerro Gordo,Cliffs of Maro-Cerro Gordo, with steep amazing cliffs.
It's a secluded, rustic beach surrounded by a natural environment of great beauty. It is not of easy access, but this adds to its charm, it is a secret secluded little known beach with a perfect climate.
The Cañuelo is a cove of sand and gravel, its crystalline transparent waters are ideal for snorkelling and diving without any problems, so do not forget your diving equipment and discover the wonderful marine fauna of this area. You can find orange coral, a species listed as in danger of extinction.
A perfect beach to relax on a sunny day, considered one of the quietest places on the Malaga coast. Even in winter it is one of the places chosen to hide from the world.

HOW TO GET THERE
From Nerja, the Cañuelo is located just 13 kilometres east, a beach with good road signs. You must join the N-340 towards Almuñécar, and then take exit 402 on the right.
Alternatively, take the new motorway towards Almería, exit at La Herradura. Follow the road to the coast and take the N-340 towards Malaga.
You'll have to leave your car at the top of the cliff and take the bus from the Andalusian Environment down to the beach and also when you go back up. Although you can climb up and down on foot.
