Parajes en Salares

Amongst the many interesting places to visit in the natural world surrounding Salares is the water spring, known locally as “Albarrá”, which is only half a liometre from the village. In the Summer the water that juts forth is cold, while in the Winter it is hot. Another emblematic spot is the Cerro del Puerto, which is a hill that rises some 1.658 metres above sea level, thus constitutes the higest of the region. It is located in the La Sierra de Almijara in most northern point of the province of Malaga and on the border with the province of Granada. The village’s natural borders are a series of small mountains like “Monte Chico” to the east, and “Peñas Blancas” to the south and is well watered by two rivers: the Salares and the Tozones. There are several sheltered spots and covachas amongst the mountains, too and perhaps the most outstanding of them all is the Cueva de las Siete Salas, which is located in the Monte Chico and is yet to be explored.
