Restaurant Cortijo Juan Salvador. Montes de Malaga (Distinguished Establishments)
This old rural property in the centre of the Mountains of Malaga is surrounded by almond and olive trees and orchards. Behind its 17th century front door, you will discover Mediterranean gardens, old stone floor, an ecological garden and a lovely water tank turned into a swimming pool.
Young, creative and a keen chef, David Palacios abandoned his career in piloting planes in order to dedicate himself to cooking, his real passion. He developed his skills and work experience at places such as Maastricht in Holland, where his feeling for cuisine together with his creativity evolved. Later on he moved to Andalusia, his father’s homeland, with his family. Today, this is where he grows organic products, as well as edible flowers he uses in his dishes.
Mr Palacio’s great control of the traditional Andalusian cookery helps him elaborate exclusive dishes with modern twists. He offers gourmet cooking classes during which up to eight dishes can be tasted. Other services are meals for vegetarians, or big groups, catering, and other tailor-made orders. He is able to welcome you in his fluent English, Spanish or Dutch.
Chef David Palacios has received high praise from many different media such as Street Journal, Travel + Leisure magazine, or cnn.com web page.
He teaches his customers how to recognize edible flowers and then make delicious dishes with them during the cooking courses or at workshops for kids.
You will also love the route through his wine cellar where some of the best world sweet wines can be tasted as well as an original collection of dry white and red wines which is rapidly increasing.
This country property is placed in the Mountains of Malaga (Los Montes de Málaga), at the end of a path surrounded by almond and eucalyptus trees, and on the top of a cliff that overlooks wonderful scenery. It is five kilometres away from the Mountains of Malaga Nature Park and 30 minutes away from the famous beaches of the Costa del Sol.
