Posada del Fresno (Distinguished Establishments)
This hotel, which was completely refurbished in 2006, is from the end of the 19th or the beginning of the 20th century. It is filed in the Andalusian Government’s Register as a Superior-quality Country House. It has three quality certificates: Exceptional Nature Park in Andalusia, part of professional network of European Protected Areas(EUROPARC Federation); and Compomiso Calidad Turistica (Committed to Tourist Quality). It also belongs to the Tourist Initiative Centre in the Serranía de Ronda.
This is a typical mountain building with a tiled roof, wide and white walls and a patio. Ceilings with wooden beam and terracotta floor outstand inside of it.
There are five double rooms with a bathroom, and a separated flat where the owners stay. There is also a living room with a library, TV, DVD, phone and the Internet. The rooms are split on four floors, whereas the top one is a kind of attic and the bottom floor is partially below ground level.
This guesthouse has heating in winter and summer due to the altitude it is placed on. Cooling is not necessary, which is good for saving power. The mornings and the evenings here are quite cold, although some thin clothes is enough to make your night walks or sleep pleasant.
Rooms are light and full of small decorations. Ochre-coloured walls contrast with blue doors and windows, which creates relaxed atmosphere.
You can do plenty of activities in the surroundings. Some of them belong to active tourism like hiking, cycling or pot-holing. You can also spend time finding out about local gastronomy and ethnography.
Montejaque is almost 700 metres high. It is part of the Sierrra de Grazalema nature Park, 14 kilometres away from Ronda and 60 kilometres away from the beaches on the Costa del Sol. The guesthouse is open throughout the year.
